Argan Oil

What it does

An oil pressed from the kernels of the Moroccan argan tree. In hair products it coats the surface of the hair, reducing friction so it feels softer and smoother.

Benefits

In lab studies on hair samples it reduced protein loss from bleaching and stayed on the hair after washing. A 2022 systematic review found no good clinical evidence that it improves hair growth or quality, so expect softness rather than repair.

Concerns & Risks

Allergic reactions are rare but have been reported. In a rinse-off shampoo, where it is usually a minor ingredient, its effect is small.
