What it does

A primary colour-former, chemically related to PPD, that develops colour inside the hair when mixed with peroxide and couplers.

Benefits

Lets permanent colours produce shades that PPD alone cannot.

Concerns & Risks

A contact allergen: 1.8% of European patients reacted to it in patch testing, and it was in 60% of US home dyes in one survey. Being related to PPD, it can cross-react in people already allergic to PPD.
