What it does

A coupler that reacts with PPD-type colour-formers in permanent dyes to produce the final shade.

Widens the range of shades a permanent colour can produce.

Concerns & Risks

A recognised contact allergen: 1% of European patients reacted to it in patch testing, and it was in 75% of US home dyes in one survey. Most people who react to it also react to PPD.
